Consultation ends: 28/11/08
The Home Office has launched a review which aims to establish from police and those who work with them, as well as the public, whether the act and the codes of practice are still appropriate, proportionate, and relevant to the criminal justice system.
The review proposes allowing police officers to question children without their parents, guardian or other relative being present and changes to stop and search that would replace handwritten forms with handheld computer technology that will issue a receipt to the person stopped.
The document can be downloaded from the Home Office website.
