Children in Wales Influencing Policy
Children in Wales Influencing Policy

Children in Wales carries out a range of work within Wales, at UK level and internationally to influence policies that affect children. This work includes:

Representation

Children in Wales is represented either by staff members or associates on a wide range of committees and bodies that have an impact on policy development. You can find out which bodies Children in Wales is represented on our Representation page.

Third Sector Partnership Council

One of the bodies that Children in Wales sits on is the Third Sector Partnership Council where Children in Wales represents the children’s voluntary sector in Wales. As part of this work representatives of Children in Wales attend special meetings with Ministers. You can find out more about all this work on our section on the Third Sector Partnership Council.

Working with other Children’s Voluntary Organisations

Children in Wales’ Policy Directors meet regularly with the policy officers from the other large children’s voluntary organisations in Wales, particularly Barnardo's Cymru, Action for Children – Gweithredu dros Blant, NSPCC and Save the Children. Together this group campaigns on a number of issues, provides information to politicians at party conferences and other events and works on projects.

Consultations

Children in Wales responds to a number of consultations on issues relevant to children and young people. Members of Children in Wales can use this website to contribute to Children in Wales’ responses.

Campaigns

Children in Wales is involved in a number of campaigns on particular issues. These include campaigns such as the Children are Unbeatable Campaign , Disabled Children Matter Wales, and the End Child Poverty Network.
