Find out About the Latest Policy InformationYou can find out about the latest News, Consultations, Documents, Legislation and Proceedings effecting children in Wales by selecting the appropriate section from the Policy Home page or from the menu on the left hand side.
View policy relating to a Specific Subject Area The website enables you to filter the policy information so that only information relating to a specific subject area is shown. To do this select the subject area that you are interested in from the list on the right hand menu and browse for the information you are interested in. The subject area will stay selected until you change it to another subject or back to All Subjects. The green heading at the top of the page indicates which subject area you have selected.
View the Archive of policy informationThe website enables you to switch between viewing current information and an archive of policy information. The current section shows policy information added to the site in the last six months to year, while the archive provides details of documents and consultations published since 2002. To enter the Archive, click on Enter the Archive at the bottom left hand menu and then select the year you are interested in from the pull down list. You can then browse through the information you are interested in. You will remain in the Archive until you select Return to Current from the bottom of the left hand menu. The green heading at the top of the page indicates whether you are in the Archive or the Current Section. Use the Advanced Search facility The Advanced Search facility enables you to search through the Children in Wales Policy website as well as the UN Convention and In Your Area sections of the Children in Wales website. To search for policy information select Advanced Search from the top of the left hand menu, and then Policy & UN Convention from the pull down menu next to search type. You can then choose to look at live and/or archive documents and select a year of publication, a subject area and a type of document. Key words can also be added to the Enter Search Term box if required.
Get an overview of policy in certain subject areasThe Introduction to Policy by Subject section provides a range of feature articles introducing the main policy developments in various subject areas.
Find out about documents relating to ParticipationThe Participation Section provides information about resources which can help professionals to enable children and young people to participate in making decisions which effect them. It also includes a section called The Views of Children and Young People which provides details of reports detailing what children and young people think on a variety of issues.
Find out about the legislative processes through which policy is developedThe Guide to the Policy Making Process and Structures for Children section provides information about how policy effecting children and young people in Wales is developed. It includes Policy Making in the National Assembly for Wales and Policy Making in Westminster. It also highlights the roles of the Children’s Commissioner for Wales and the work of the Voluntary Sector Partnership Council.

Find out about the latest policy news from the other nations of the UKThe Children in Wales Policy Website is provided through a partnership, the 4 Nations Child Policy Network, with the equivalent children’s umbrella organisations in England, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Because of this partnership we are able to provide feeds of the latest policy news directly from the websites of our partners in the other three nations.
