Total Respect: Ensuring Children’s Rights and Participation in Care
A training pack designed to ensure that children's and young people’s right to participate in all decisions affecting them is fully respected in the looked after system - by foster carers, social workers, residential care staff, managers and elected members.

The pack was prepared by CROA (Children’s Rights Officers & Advocates) for the Department of Health in partnership with over 200 looked after children and young people. It is designed to bring about real change and will support the full implementation of objective 8 of the Quality Protects programme.

Each training pack includes:
  • A step-by-step training manual on the theory and practice of children's and young people's effective participation

  • Forty handbooks for course participants

  • A video and audio tape of message from looked after children and young people

  • Pledge cards for course participants

  • Remember to… cards on review meetings and working with children and young people

  • An A3 Participation is… poster
