Secondary School Councils Toolkit
Secondary School Councils Toolkit
A training pack for those who want to set up and run pupil-led school and class councils in secondary schools. It is aimed at both teachers and pupils and contains all the materials needed for training by both.
Using case studies and session plans, the pack includes guidance in the following areas:
Creating an ethos of participation
Issues for senior management
Student councils and citizenship
Deciding on the best structure
Membership, elections and constitutions
Running meetings and training sessions
The toolkit shows how school councils can contribute to education for citizenship, encourage pupil participation and create a more friendly and democratic school environment.
