Tackling Islamophobia: A Children’s Rights Resource for Secondary Schools in Wales

18.01.18

The Children’s Commissioner for Wales has published a resource about rights and equality for young Muslims in Wales, with advice from Show Racism the Red card and the Ethnic Youth Support Team Wales (EYST).

The resource is designed to help young people in Wales understand Islam, discrimination, and their rights. It will also provide young people with the skills to analyse media texts and challenge negative stereotypes.

The resource consists of three, hour-long sessions for young people between 11 and 14 years old, (although it includes information on adapting the resource to different ages).

The sessions can be delivered as standalone sessions, but it’s recommended that they are all delivered to develop incremental learning.

To download the resource and read the sessions, please visit the Children’s Commissioner for Wales’ website.
