Social housing vacancies, lettings and arrears, 02/03/17 [W]


The Welsh Government has published an annual report with data on the use and availability of social housing in Wales.

The report includes information on the number of rented social housing units, the number of empty units and the number of social housing tenants in rent arrears. The number of vacant social housing stock decreased during 2015-16, with 4,340 vacant units. The number of units vacant for more than six months also decreased to 28% of all vacant housing stock, compared with 31% in the previous year. The number of new lettings increased by 1%, with the majority continuing to be from housing waiting lists, although 14% of new lettings were housing priority homeless households.
