Local authority child protection registers, 29/11/16 [W]
This annual report from the Welsh Government includes data on the number of children listed on local authority child protection registers.
The report includes information on the number of children on child protection registers by age, gender and the time spent on the register. As of 31 March 2016, 3,059 children under the age of 18, including unborn children, were listed, an increase of 4% when compared with 31 March 2015. The highest number of registrations were due to neglect, at 48%, and the lowest as a result of sexual abuse at 5%. The number of children removed from the registers during 2015 decreased by 8% to 4,275.
