Launch of the Welsh Government Action Plan to advance equality for transgender people, 14/03/16 [W]

14.03.16

Lesley Griffiths AM, Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty, has made a statement announcing the launch of a Transgender Action Plan by Welsh Government.

The action plan was developed in consultation with trans adults and young people, organisations and Welsh Government officials through a focus group. The group identified key priorities they wanted to see addressed and helped to inform understanding of the issues that affect trans people on a day to day basis.

The action plan will drive forward cross-Government actions to tackle the barriers to equality faced by trans people and improve their lives. This will be achieved through specific actions with a focus on issues such as bullying, hate crimes, violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence. Barriers to participating in sport and access to health and housing services will also be tackled through the plan.
