Final Report of the Parliamentary Review of Health and Social Care in Wales Published

18.01.18

On 16 January 2018 the final report of the Parliamentary Review of Health and Social Care in Wales was published.

The review focused on defining the issues facing health and social care, identifying needed change, a vision for the future, and advice on how to deliver the identified change, building on positive aspects of the current system.

The review makes recommendation of new models of care, which focus the services around the individual and their family, as close to home as possible. It says that services need to be preventative, easy to access and high quality.

Cabinet Secretary for Health, Vaughan Gething was pleased that the report highlights positive aspects of health and social care in Wales, but that further consideration was needed to continue to improve. The new long term plan for health and social care will be published in the spring, taking into account the recommendation the report makes, he said.
