Electoral Reform in Local Government in Wales- October 2017

10.10.17

This is our response to the Welsh Government consultation on Electoral Reform in Local Government in Wales.

Children in Wales surveyed 368 people in age ranges from Under 18, Between 18 to 25, and Over 25.

They were asked for their views on:

  • Reducing the age of enfranchisement in Wales,
  • Whether local authority staff should be able to help people register,
  • Whether there should be a single electronic register for Wales,
  • The different methods of voting that might be available.

Three quarters of the people surveyed (74%) said that they supported lowering the voting age in Wales.

You can download our response below. Section 1 covers the survey responses, while Section 2 covers the more full position of Children in Wales.
