Childcare Payments Act 2014

The Childcare Payments Act received Royal Assent on 17 December 2014.

The Act introduces a scheme aimed at supporting working families financially and encouraging parents  to take up paid employment where they have been concerned about childcare costs.

It is a “top-up scheme” giving £2 extra for every £8 a person pays towards childcare. The scheme replaces other tax and National Insurance benefit schemes for childcare, such as childcare vouchers , workplace nurseries and other Employer Support Childcare.
