Advocacy Practice Exchange
The Advocacy Practice Exchange provides a forum for advocacy practitioners and managers to share practice, experience and knowledge about advocacy and related areas. The forum which was established in 2006 endorses the principle that advocacy to be more accessible to all children and young people, especially the most vulnerable. The forum enables its members to:
- To share practice, information, ideas and network
- To support one another
- To explore similarities and differences in advocacy service provision
- To link with networks such as the Advocacy Providers Group, where appropriate
- To provide a collective voice for practitioners
- To promote children’s rights within the field of advocacy
The group meets three times a year. Information gathered in the Practice Exchange is fed into the Advocacy Providers Group which in turn feeds information through to the Welsh Government.
Membership of the forum is open to all advocates working with children and young people in Wales. Each member should be able to contribute to the group’s development. Professionals from outside the field of advocacy, or at a managerial/strategic level within advocacy, are invited to attend or input as appropriate as agreed by the membership.
