Welsh Government Budget approved, 06/12/11 [W]

The National Assembly for Wales has approved the Welsh Government Budget for 2012-13.

The Final Budget was passed in today’s plenary session, after negotations with the Liberal Democrats regarding extra spending on education for children facing deprivation. Finance Minister Jane Hutt welcomed the new budget:

“Over recent weeks we have worked with Opposition Parties to see how we can improve our budget proposals and we secured an agreement around our plans with the Welsh Liberal Democrats. I was pleased to be able to include in the Final Budget a new grant – the Pupil Deprivation Grant – which will direct support to children that need it most.”

The Welsh Government is now able to proceed with the spending plans. More information on the budget is available on the Welsh Government website.
