Welsh Government announces Period Dignity Grant for Schools, 15/04/2019 [W]

The Welsh Government has announced a grant worth £2.3 million for schools to provide sanitary products to female pupils.

The Period Dignity Grant for Schools is estimated to reach 141,000 pupils in primary and secondary schools. Its aim is to make sure pupils don’t have to miss school because they cannot afford sanitary products.

The products will be free of charge, as accessible as possible, and schools are being encouraged to support environmentally friendly products where they can.

The money will be distributed to schools through local authorities and is on top of £1.1 million last year to tackle period poverty in communities and improve school facilities.
