Welsh charities and First Minister make joint statement on child refugees, 14/10/16 [W]

The First Minister, Carwyn Jones AM, has made a joint statement with Oxfam Cymru, Save the Children, Chrisitan Aid Wales and Citizens Cymru Wales on supporting child refugees.

The First Minister has written to the Prime Minister to express the shared view that the UK Government should take urgent action to resettle more unaccompanied child refugees in the UK. The statement follows the French Government’s intention to demolish the ‘jungle’ camp in Calais, which is thought to house children as young as eight years old. During the last demolition of refugee camps at Calais 129 children are suggested to be missing and three are thought to have died making their way to relatives in the UK.
