The Future of Local Planning and Partnerships, 19/09/11 [W]

The Welsh Government are planning to issue new guidance for consultation on local planning and partnerships in early December but in the meantime are engaging with a range of stakeholders to explore issues during the policy development phase. Children in Wales has been included in this process and is trying to gain the views of its members on this issue to take forward to policy makers.

The new system being proposed will mean a single integrated plan for each area, based on an outcomes methodology, and rationalisation of partnerships, effective by April 2013. The integrated plan will replace/supercede CYPP, Community Safety plan and Community Strategy, and will be the vehicle for delivering the statutory duties contained in various pieces of legislation, including the Children Act 2004 and the Children and Families (Wales) Measure 2010. The Welsh Government are also proposing a significant rationalisation of partnerships, including potential merger of adjacent LSBs, in the context of more widespread regional collaboration.

A paper that went to the Local Government Partnership Council in July summarising the new approach can be download from the Welsh Government website.

In order to help Children in Wales take your views on this matter to policy makers, we would be grateful if you could complete the following questionnaire:

The survey will end on 30 September.
