State of Caring survey, 14/02/13 [W]

Carers Wales are carrying out a major survey which aims to look at a broad range of issues affecting carers exploring their experiences. This will help the charity to understand better the impact that caring for ill, frail or disabled relatives can have on carers’ finances, health and ability to live their own lives.

The survey will contribute to the evidence base that is being put together for the Caring & Family Finances Inquiry launched last week and will help Carers UK identify the particular issues and areas of concern that carers have.

The survey also looks into carers’ experiences of technology, nutrition, hospital treatment as well as exploring how families find and use services and what makes the difference in supporting them to care or to stay in work alongside caring.

Over 1000 carers have already filled in the survey since it went live at the weekend so hopefully the results will produce a really clear picture of the impact of caring in 2013. It is vitally important for us in Wales that we get a clear picture of the situation here so that it can be fed in to the Ministerial Group on Welfare Reform at Welsh Government and help it to inform work and future campaigning.
