Spending Round 2013, 26/06/13 [W/E/NI/S]

Chancellor George Osborne has announced tyhe UK Government’s spending plans for 2015-16, amounting to a 2% cut for the Welsh Government budget.

The spending review including £11.5 billion more cuts overall, including new caps on welfare, a seven day wait before jobseekers can claim benefits and a 9.5% cut for the Department for Work and Pensions.

Local councils in England are particularly hard hit, with a 10% reduction in the Local Government and Communities spending resource, while Education and Health will be ring-fenced. Public servants will not longer receive an annual pay-rise, and any increase in salaries will be limited to 1%.
