Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 to be implemented by 2019, 18/01/16 [W]
Today, the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 received Royal Assent and will be implemented by 2019.
The new Act reflects recommendations from the Flynn review, including the introduction of a fit and proper person test for responsible individuals and service providers. Accountability has been also been reframed to hold service owners to account for any failings in care. The powers of Welsh Minister have been updated under the Act to allow for the removal of bad providers in addition to bad services.
