Oral Statement: The Legislative Programme 17/07/12 [W]

First Minister Carwyn Jones has made a statement to the National Assembly giving an update on the five year legislative programme brought forward by the Welsh Government in June last year.

The statement gives an account of the bills introduced by the Welsh Government during the past year, such as the School Standards and Organisation (Wales) Bill current passing through the National Assembly, the legislation to be brought forward in the next year, and updates on changes to the programme.

One important change is that the Welsh Government had said it would introduce a children and young persons bill to build upon the Rights of Children and Young Persons (Wales) Measure 2011. However much of the policy intended for this bill, such as the introduction of a single adoption service for Wales and further measures on safeguarding have been included in the draft Social Services (Wales) Bill.
