New law on care provision to be proposed, 24/10/11

Ken Skates AM, the Assembly Member for Clwyd South, is the first non-government AM to be given to the chance to propose a law in the National Assembly for Wales’ plenary meeting after being selected in the new Member’s ballot system last week.

Mr Skates will call for the introduction of a Continuity from Care into Adult Life Bill, which would extend the provision which would extend the package of support on offer for looked-after children to 25 with additional help in housing.

This is the first time Members have been able to propose laws using the full legislative powers which came about as a result of the ‘yes’ vote in the March referendum.

Full details and a  guide to the new Member Bill process is available on the National Assembly for Wales website.
