New law on homelessness comes into force, 27/04/15 [W]

The Housing (Wales) Act 2014 comes into force on 27 April 2015.

The Welsh Government made the new law to ensure that people who are facing homelessness get help as soon as possible. It was passed by the National Assembly in July 2014.

The legislation places a duty on local authorities to work with people who are at risk of losing their home within 56 days to help find a solution to their problems. Local authorities have  also been given more flexibility to use privately rented accommodation to provide a home to people who are facing homelessness.
