New funding for FILMCLUB Cymru announced, 07/06/12 [W]

The Welsh Government has announced further funding for FILMCLUB Cymru, a charity which helps teachers and students in Welsh schools to set up film clubs.

FILMCLUB works in partnership with Film Agency Wales and aims to improve communication skills and literacy by encouraging children to discuss the films they see, write reviews and read about topics that come up in films.

A grant of £272,600 was announced at the Children’s Cultural Poverty Forum at the Urdd Eisteddfod to support that work that the charity does, which helps disdvantaged students to improve their academic achievement by giving them new ways of learning.

Further details are available on the Welsh Government website. For more information about FILMCLUB Cymru, please visit http://www.filmclub.org/
