New funding for 21st Century Schools programme from 2019, 19/11/14 [W]

The Welsh Government has announced new funding of £500 million for the 21st Century Schools and Education Capital Programme, to start in 2019.

21st Century Schools is the Welsh Government’s capital investment programme for school building, which can also include refurbishments as well as new builds, and some school reorganisation.

The aim is to ensure that learning environments for children and young people in Wales will support strategies for school improvement and better educational outcomes as well as reducing recurrent costs including energy consumption and carbon emissions.

The funding will start after 2018-19, when the current band of the programme comes to and end.
