Higher Education hardship Fund, 12/09/14 [W]

Education Minister Huw Lewis has announced that the Education hardship fund (Financial Contingency Fund) will be re-established in Wales for 2014-15.

This is funding of £2 million which is paid to higher education institutions to help students who are struggling financially.

It had been planned to cut the funding for this year, but after lobbying from stakeholders, the Welsh Government is re-establishing it for one year.

From 2015-16, Higher Education institutions will be expected to set up their own funds from other income to help students financially.
