Further expansion of the Flying Start programme, 13/05/13 [W]

146 new Flying Start projects have been announced, offering support for families with young children in Wales’ most deprived areas.

Flying Start helps parents to cope with the pressures of poverty by offering those with children under 4 extra help by provding quality childcare, an enhanced health visiting service, parenting programmes and help with early language skills. The programme currently suppors 18,000 children and families, and the Welsh Government wants to double this number to 36,000.

The projects aim to improve outcomes for children and families in low-income communities.
