Families First funding, 19/07/12 [W]

The Welsh Government has announced funding of £42 million to support the work of the Families First programme across Wales.

The programme helps families living in, or at risk of poverty. It aims to help those on low incomes to gain or improve their employment, and to encourage children and families to achieve their potential and improve their health and well-being. It is organised and ran by local authorities, targeting needs locally.

Reducing poverty has been highlighted as a priority for the Welsh Government, and Families First is seen as being vital to this, as it focuses both on intervention for children and their families to improve outcomes and protect the most disadvantaged.
