Equality Impact Assessments to continue in Wales, 23/05/13 [W]

The Welsh Government have confirmed that they will continue to assess the impact their policies have on different social groups, after the decision in England to stop Equality Impact Assessments.

Equality Impact Assessments were introduced in the Equality Act 2010, to assessment the likely impact that policies will have on different groups. They are assessed with respect to with protected characteristics, such as age, disability, gender and race.

In November 2012, the UK Government announced that Equality Impact Assessments would no longer be carried out in Whitehall departments.
