Consultation on standardised packaging for cigarettes launched across the UK, 16/04/12 [W/E/NI/S]

The Department for Health along with the Devolved Administrations have launched a consultation on the potential public health benefits of introducing plain packing for tobacco products.

The consultation runs from 16 April to 10 July and addresses all the possible effects of legislating in this area along with other tobacco policy measures.

It is thought that removing colourful logos and attractive packaging from tobacco products will reduce the number of young people who take up smoking.
