Children in Wales survey on the future of Social Services, 03/05/12 [W]

Following our conference in March, Influencing the agenda: Keeping the focus on children and young people through the changes in social services, Children in Wales is developing a response to the Welsh Government’s consultation on the Social Services (Wales) Bill.

This Bill is intended to provide the legislation necessary to make the changes to Social Services in Wales which were put forward in Sustainable Social Services for Wales: A Framework for Action. The new law would give service users the legal right to have their needs assessed, and the chance to control their own care budgets. It also aims to make Social Services more efficient and effective through the sharing of budgets and skills.

The bill contains provisions for improved transition services for young people, and the creation of a single adoption agency covering the whole of Wales. In addition, the new law will introduce national standards and a greater role of the Public Service Ombudsman.

In developing our responses Children in Wales would like to hear the views of our members about the consultation, and we have set up an online survey which mirrors the consultation and through which you can forward us your views.  You can access our consultation survey via the following links:
