Our call to all parties this General Election: Prioritise and invest in children and young people

On the 12th December 2019, voters will decide who will form the next UK government. This new government will continue to have significant power and influence over the lives of children and young people in Wales.

We’re calling on all political parties to commit to prioritising and investing in children and young people. Every child should have the chance to reach their full potential, and they should be given higher political priority.

Our Call to Action asks all parties to make ambitious commitments that will:

  • Fully incorporate the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and Optional Protocols into UK law
  • Eradicate Child Poverty in the UK
  • Ensure that all existing protections for children’s rights are maintained and protected in law whatever the outcome of Brexit.
  • Listen to, and urgently act upon the demands of children and young people to tackle the climate emergency.
