£670,000 SEN Grant to make sure children with special educational needs can access childcare offer, 07/12/2018 [W]

The Welsh Government will make £670,000 available to make their childcare offer more accessible. Local authorities will use the money to remove barriers to accessing the childcare element of the offer for parents of children with special educational needs (SEN).

The Welsh Government previously committed to providing 30 hours of free early education and childcare for up to 48 weeks of the year for three and four year olds in Wales.

The then Minister for Children, Huw Irranca-Davies said:

“The provision of affordable, available and accessible childcare will support our drive to increase economic growth, tackle poverty and reduce inequalities. It will also provide opportunities and long-term benefits for our children and improve their life chances.”
