A one-day course

This course offers an in depth exploration of the nature of attachment formation difficulties and how early adversity will influence a child’s ability to manage in early years and school settings. Teachers and day care staff can play a critical role in supporting children with attachment difficulties and their families through adopting an attachment-focused approach to their relationships with children. The training will explore the importance of classroom management and responses to concerning behaviours. The course is suitable for all who work in early years and educational settings.

The day will include:

  • An overview of Attachment Formation Theory
  • Consideration of the possible conflict between the goals of learning and attachment
  • Discussion of different types of Attachment Formation
  • Identifying attachment-related behaviours ~ in children and adults!
  • Caring for and responding to children with attachment difficulties

About the Trainer

Gabrielle Eisele
Gabrielle Eisele is a BAPT qualified Play Therapist and has been working with children and young people across the UK for over 30 years. Gabrielle has worked with children and young people in such diverse roles as specialist advocate for disabled children and young people, special needs development worker, Adviser for the Family Fund Trust, Portage worker, secondary school teacher, college and university lecturer, and child worker for Women’s Aid, as well as providing training in all areas of child welfare and development, disability awareness and Autism across Wales.
Gabrielle’s academic background is in psychology, with a BSc (Hons), MSc in Psychology, Advanced Diploma in Positive Behaviour Support, MA in Developmental and Therapeutic Play and an MSc in Play Therapy. Gabrielle works in private therapy practice and is the director and founder of The Windfall Centre in mid-Wales.
