One day course

Under the Social Services and Well-being Act 2014, children who are eligible for Care and Support Services will need to be involved in What Matters Conversations and the Co-production of their Well-being Goals.  This course will use a child rights based approach to engaging children of a wide age range. Everyone is expected to place a greater emphasis on finding out what is important to people of all ages in Wales, a move from’ doing to’, to ‘doing with’ children & young people.   The training will give participants ideas of practical fun activities in conducting assessments, using play and creative techniques.  There will be opportunities to consider the assessment process from preparation, conducting assessments and what happens after.

This one day course will consider:

  • Skills and Resources needed to engage with Children & young people
  • A brief overview of the Social Services and Well-being Act 2014
  • The framework of Children’s Rights within the Act
  • The context of What Matters Conversations
  • The purpose and 5 elements of assessments
  • Barriers to participation
