Services ProvidedHome Start is a voluntary organisation that offers free and confidential support, friendship and practical help to families who have at least one child under the age of five.
The service provides volunteers support to families in their own homes, with Home-Start volunteers visiting regularly for as long as support is needed.
Home-Start is a referral service. Anyone can refer a family to Home-Start as long as they have discussed the referral with the family first. Families can also refer themselves via telephone or at the office. The service is open to anyone who looks after a child under five years of age.
Families should seek the services when experiencing difficult times and finding it hard to cope, e.g. loneliness and isolation, separation/divorce, multiple births, disabilities, postnatal depression, etc.
