The Campaign's work in Wales is to build constituencies of support among professionals, community organisations, churches etc to create a mandate for change. We provide information and advice, provide training and we have produced 'Making it Work' - a toolkit of practical examples.

The Campaign has been involved in presentations to politicians at the National Assembly and Westminster. It has also organised conferences and seminars and been present at events to raise awareness about physical punishment and postive parenting.

These have included:

• April 2008 - Launch of the Help at Hand Toolkit
• April 2006 - "Help at Hand" in Neath Port Talbot (with Barnardo's, NCH, Communities First and a multi agency project group.)
• January 2005 - Torfaen Framework Partnership Seminar – "Hitting People is Wrong and Children are People Too!" We produced a report with Torfaen on the event to encourage other local authorities and public bodies to replicate it.
• Alternatives to Smacking booklet(with WAG and Children in Wales Parenting Development Project)
• February 2004 - Launch of ‘Alternatives To Smacking’ Exhibition – Barnardos Parenting Matters, Powys,
• January 2004 - Official 3 day visit to Sweden where we met Swedish Government Ministers. The visit included Assembly Members including Ministerfor Children, Jane Hutt, Welsh MPs, and NGO representatives. 
• July 2003 - ‘Alternatives To Smacking’ Conference – Powys Positive Parenting
• May & June 2003 - Conferences in mid & north Wales "It Never did me any Harm" at which Mali Nilsson described the practical experience of Sweden, where hitting children has been banned since 1979, and where it is now rare to find anyone in support.
• June 2002 - "Own Goal"– what’s the penalty for smacking your children' a theatrical event by Tai Hafan for Theatr Fforwm Agora, Cardiff Bay

Political Campaigning & Presentations

• We advise the Welsh Assembly Government on ending physical punishment for example by responding  to consultations - 'Tackling Domestic Abuse', 'Parenting Action Plan', and giving evidence to the 'Safeguarding Vulnerable Children Review'.
• June 2004 in Westminster for Members of Parliament, with Mali Nilsson and Paula Honkanen-Schoberth from Germany.
• July 2002 at National Assembly for Wales with Mali Nilsson from Sweden, this was a major factor in persuading the Welsh Assembly Government to become the first part of the UK to take a principled stand against the Physical Punishment of Children
