TACTICS

TACTICS (Tools to Address Childhood Trauma, Injury and Children’s Safety) is a large scale initiative of the European Child Safety Alliance involving all 27 EU Member States, Croatia, Iceland, Israel, Norway and Switzerland. It will run from April 2011 through to March 2014 and is working to make the lives of children in Europe safer by developing tools to increase adoption and implementation of effective interventions at the national and local levels.

TACTICS is important because it:

  • Is working to address the leading cause of child death, disability and inequalities in Europe Supports children’s right to safety as stated in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
  • Examines intentional and unintentional child injuries nationally and sub-nationally
  • Supports the development and implementation of Child Safety Action Plans
  • Is aimed at developing practical tools and resources to support uptake, implementation and monitoring of evidence-based child safety policies

TACTICS is led by the European Child Safety Alliance. It is supported by the European Commission and has partners from more than 30 European countries. Welsh partners are Children in Wales and Swansea University.

Call for Good Practice Examples

Working in partnership with the European Child Safety Alliance, the CHAPPIE Network is looking for good practice examples of accident prevention.

ECSA has already produced 13 case studies of good practice across Europe, with AWISS (All Wales Injury Surveillance System) being quoted as one. Further information is available in this document. If you can help, please contact karen.mcfarlane@childreninwales.org.uk
