February 2010 Meeting of the South Wales Children's Rights Practice Exchange Group
February 2010 Meeting of the South Wales Children's Rights Practice Exchange Group

Presentations informing attendees of new pieces of work to improve the lives of children and young people in Wales.

1.Presentations:

Helpline Service: Sian Pitman, Promo Cymru

ProMo-Cymru is a youth enterprise organisation that specialises in the cultural industries with a history of supporting innovative and experimental creative projects.  One project currently being facilitated is the development of an information, advice and advocacy service via a telephone helpline and online communication methods as a source for help for children and young people 0-25 years old in Wales.  Sian provided a presentation on what to expect from the service.

Outcome Measures Framework: Jackie James, Partnership Working Branch, WAG

Showing the differences that Partnerships make to children and young people’s lives in Wales is an onerous task but the Welsh Assembly Government seconded Jackie to look into establishing effective measures that will demonstrate clearly the effects of the efforts put into our Single Plans. Rights, Indicators and Outcomes was the theme for the Children in Wales Annual Conference in November and Jackie’s presentation was amongst the high scorers in the evaluation for the event.  Attendees took part in an exercise putting forward their views on how to measure core aim 5.
