Voluntary Sector

Children in Wales carries out a range of work to support the children’s voluntary sector in Wales. This includes:

Representation on the Third Sector Partnership Council

Children in Wales represents the Children’s Voluntary Sector on the Third Sector Partnership Council (TSPC). The TSPC is the key body, which enables the voluntary sector and the National Assembly to communicate on key issues. More information about the TSPC and meetings that take place between the voluntary sector and Welsh Assembly Government Ministers is available in the Policy section of this website.

Those working in the voluntary sector who have issues they would like to raise with the at the TSPC or the meetings with Ministers should contact Sian Thomas, Children in Wales, Tel: 029 2034 2434, E-mail: sian.thomas@childreninwales.org.uk

North Wales Voluntary Organisations Support Group

Children in Wales co-ordinates meetings of representatives from voluntary sector in North Wales through the North Wales Voluntary Organisations Support Group.  This group meets around four times a year and discusses a range of issues of interest to those in the voluntary sector.  For more information contact Allison Hughes, Children in Wales, Tel: (01286) 677570, E-mail: Allison.Hughes@childreninwales.org.uk

Children & Young People Partnership Involvement Network in Wales (CYPPinCYMRU)

Children In Wales, works with CWVYS (The Council for Wales of Voluntary Youth Services), County Voluntary Council (CVC) representatives, and Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) to facilitate quarterly meetings of the Children & Young People Partnership Involvement Network in Wales (CYPPinCYMRU). These meetings are aimed at representatives from each CVC who are involved in partnership work in the Children's Partnerships and Young People's Partnerships and engagement of the voluntary sector.   The Network provides an ideal opportunity to share best practice, knowledge and concerns and also encourages links with other agencies with past meetings being attended by WLGA, ESTYN, NSPCC, WAG.  We are currently looking at ways of developing a joined up approach across the voluntary sector in Wales with regards to raising awareness of the safegauarding of children and young people in response to the recent consultaion on the new vetting and barring scheme.

If you would like to attend the Network to give presentations or to consult with the group then please contact Sarah Thomas at Children in Wales, E-mail: sarah.thomas@childreninwales.org.uk , Tel: 029 2034 2434 or Veronica Wilson at CWVYS.
