Equal protection from assault is every child's human right

Children in Wales is part of the UK-wide Children are Unbeatable! Alliance campaign to change the law in England and Wales for children to have the same protection from being hit that all adults have, and also to promote non-violent ways of managing children’s behaviour. The members of the Alliance include more than 350 child health, care, welfare, crime prevention and church organisations across the UK.

‘Sdim Curo Plant!/Children are Unbeatable! Cymru ('SCP!/CAU! Cymru) was launched in September 2000 to co-ordinate and promote the campaign in Wales. The Strategy Group has representatives from Children in Wales, Save the Children, NSPCC, Action for Children – Gweithredu dros Blant, Barnardo's, the National Childminding Association, the National Family & Parenting Institute and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Physical Punishment and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: Children in Wales' work relates closely to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This work relates to Article 19 of the UN Convention which can be viewed in the UN Convention section of this site.
