Barnardo’s Cymru has recently been successful in bidding to provide a new School Based Counselling Service in the Vale of Glamorgan, initially for three years.

Based at our Marlborough Road Partnership in Cardiff you will be responsible for providing a formal school based counselling service initially to three schools, pupil referral unit and to non attendees within the Vale of Glamorgan.

You will also be required to work closely with local colleges who provide a counselling course and whose students will undertake voluntary work for Barnardo’s as part of their studies.

You will need to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team towards shared goals. You are also required to have awareness of factors impacting on and issues facing vulnerable children and young people in a school setting (e.g. bullying, depression, bereavement).

The successful candidates will need to be able to recognise the unique potential that individuals from differing backgrounds, experiences and perspectives bring to Barnardo’s and be able to respect Barnardo’s basis and work in accordance with our values.

You must hold a qualification mandatory for practice (Diploma or Advanced Diploma), BACP accredited or UKCP equivalent and be registered with a professional body as appropriate to the qualification.
